Module mei 

MEI scores. MEI: music21’s mei.base, which reads a score encoded by the Music Encoding Initiative’s schema.

An MEI score is measures, each holding a <staff> for every part and in it a <layer> for every voice; <scoreDef> and <staffDef> say the meter, key, clef and instrument. Slurs, ties, beams and tuplets may be written on the notes or apart from them, naming the notes they join by their xml:id.
