How a scale respells pitches that would otherwise pile up accidentals: music21’s IntervalNetwork.pitchSimplification.

Every named scale says which it uses. A scale given by its steps spells with at most one accidental unless it is told otherwise, which is what music21’s interval network does; a Scala scale is told to take the most common spelling of each note.
